Natural Edge Funnel?

Greetings!

This is my first attempt at blogging on WordPress.com. I do however have another blog on my web site.

Yesterday I managed to make my first, and probably not my last, Natural Edge Funnel.

This of course was not by design, but when you spin wood on a wood lathe you often have things happen quite unexpectidely.

I was working with a small, Green Wood Cherry Bowl, wanting to make the bowl from start to finish wet I intended to try to get the wall thickness about 1/8″. My intention was to turn thin to try to minimize the risk of the bowl cracking while drying it a paper bag. This was just fine until I reverse chucked it on a vacuum chuck to finish the bottom. The vacuum in the small chuck I used sucked the bottom right out of the bowl. See photo.

Now I just need to find a market for Natural Edge wooden funnel.  :>)
